Run Tasmania Stage Race
4 days. 4 worlds. A trail running adventure through Tasmania’s wild heart.
- WHAT: 4-Day Stage Race (Long & Short Course Options)
- WHEN: 25th-28th November 2026
- WHERE: Hobart & South-East Tasmania (incl. Tasman Peninsula)
Dear runner,
Imagine a journey where every day, you explore a brave new world…
One morning, you’re sipping a latte in an industrial-chic Hobart café. An few hours later, you’re boulder hopping up the dolerite of kunanyi / Mount Wellington with the city a world away below. The next day, you’re deep in the mossy rainforest hidden on the Tasman Peninsula. Then, you’re running along the edge of the world, staring 300m down vertical sea cliffs to the Southern Ocean below Cape Raoul.
This isn’t a dream. This is Run Tasmania.

Four days. Four wild worlds.
Coastal trails with ocean views one day. Alpine peaks the next. Ancient rainforest dripping with moss and mystery on Day 3. And Sea cliffs that drop 300 metres to the Southern Ocean as the grand finale.

Choose from two race distances:
The “Devil” Long Course sees you covering 15-25km per day (88.5km total). EXPLORE DEVIL COURSE >
The “Quoll” Short Course delivers the same variety in a less “leg sapping” package – 10-23km per day (total of 67.5km)
EXPLORE QUOLL COURSE>

Two contrasting “off track” experiences:
The first two nights surrounded by Hobart’s trendy cafes and world-class restaurants. The second two – a retreat to the Tasman Peninsula, where you’ll fall asleep to the sound of waves and wake to wilderness at your doorstep.

Discover the 4 worlds of Run Tasmania
Every day, you’ll enter a new world, with its own unique landscape, unique ecosystems, unique challenges and unique rewards. It’s four races in one, each with its own story to tell, all within reach of Hobart’s creature comforts.

Day 1: The Coastal World
Your journey begins on the stunning coastal trails of Kingston, just south of Hobart. A world of ocean views, native bushland, and runnable trails to ease you into the adventure before returning to the city for the night.

Day 2: The Alpine World
Ascend into the alpine world of kunanyi / Mount Wellington. A world of rugged peaks, breathtaking 360-degree views, and the feeling of being on top of the world, just a stone’s throw from your hotel.

Day 3: The Rainforest World
Immerse yourself in the ancient, mystical world of the Tasman Peninsula’s rainforest near Fortescue Bay. A world of giant ferns, towering trees, and the sounds of the wild – a world away from the city you left this morning.

Day 4: The Clifftop World
Experience the grand finale in the dramatic clifftop world of Cape Raoul. A world of 300m sea cliffs, the vast Southern Ocean, and a private-property finish line celebration you’ll never forget.

Who’s It For?
The First-Timer
Have you dabbled in one-day events and are curious about the extra challenge, extra camaraderie and extra immersion a stage race might bring? Run Tasmania is the ideal “first timer” event. You’ll enjoy world-class running in prehistoric wilderness by day… and creature comforts (and banter) by night. Plus, there’s two distances to choose from so you can choose your level of suffering…. err we mean challenge.

The Veteran
For those who have done Run Larapinta and Run Bibbulmun, you already get what we do. This is the next chapter. It’s the same vibe, the same organisation, but with a completely new set of landscapes and challenges. It’s the perfect next step in your journey with us.

The Adventure Seeker
If you’re driven by a sense of adventure and a desire to explore wild places, this is for you. It’s more than a run; it’s an exploration of Tasmania’s wild heart. You’ll push your limits, see incredible places, and connect with a tribe of people who share your passion for the outdoors.

The Social Runner
Love the trails but love the people more? This is your happy place. A stage race is a shared journey, and the bonds you form over four days of sweat, stories, and celebration are what make it truly special. Come for the run, stay for the lifelong friends.

It all began with one simple question…
Run Tasmania was born from one burning question:
“How do we create the ultimate trail running stage race in Australia?”
After over a decade running one of the country’s most loved multi-day events (Run Larapinta) and more recently, the fast-rising Run Bibbulmun, we thought we had the answer. But we wanted to push further. To take everything we’d learned and dial the experience for runners up to eleven.
Our search started with a simple hypothesis: When it comes to adventure, “variety is the spice of life”.
You know that feeling when you’re travelling? Like everything is new and your senses are on hyperdrive? We reckon, that’s when real transformation happens. That’s when the strongest bonds are formed. And that’s what we wanted to bake into every day of this new stage race.
Once we were clear on the “secret” ingredient, we had to choose a location…
After scouring the maps, reliving our memories and picking the brains of our adventure contacts, the answer was resounding: “If you want wild variety and untamed beauty, TASMANIA is the place to go“.
But Tassie is a big ol’ island, so we got to work…
Many “boots on the ground” missions to scope out the best of what this island has to offer (it’s bloody cold in July!). A heap of consultation with local running legends (shout out Hanny Allston). And a long iterative process working with local Parks and authorities.
Slowly and surely, we honed in on our goal…
The result?
Four days. Four wildly different worlds. Coastal trails with ocean views one day. Alpine peaks the next. Ancient rainforest dripping with moss and mystery on Day 3. And sea cliffs that drop 300 metres to the Southern Ocean as the grand finale.
This is more than a race. It’s more than an “experience”. It’s the ultimate trail running adventure.

Your adventure awaits…
Most people will never know what it feels like to stand on the clifftops of Cape Raoul after four days of pushing their limits…
Most people will never experience the bond that forms when you share this kind of journey with strangers who become friends…
But if you’re reading this, you’re not most people.
Entries are limited to 300 runners to preserve the experience. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the inaugural Run Tasmania Stage Race.
Here’s to wild highs,
The Rapid Ascent Team
